Founded in 1972, The Conservation Foundation is one of the region’s oldest and largest not-for-profit land and watershed conservation organizations dedicated to preserving and restoring open space, protecting rivers and watersheds and promoting stewardship of the environment in northeastern Illinois.
Kane County Forest Preserve District
The mission of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County is to acquire, hold and maintain lands within Kane County that contribute to the preservation of natural and historic resources, habitats, flora and fauna; and to restore, restock, protect and preserve such lands for the education, recreation and pleasure of all its citizens.
Chicago Wilderness Habitat Project
The Habitat Project is a network of thousands of volunteers and staff—scientists, monitors, land managers and advocates—who work side by side to assure the holistic and effective conservation of Chicago Wilderness, a regional nature reserve.
